Mulled Wine

Ingredients
- 2 750–milliliter bottles of red wine, (we used Sangue di Giuda) any Cabernet Sauvignon medium body wine will do as well.
- ½ cup brandy
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 whole star anise pods
- 2 3-inch cinnamon sticks
- Peel of ½ orange with pit removed
- Optional garnishes: cinnamon sticks star anise pods, orange peel or slices, cranberries
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan (or into a crock pot on low heat). and give them a quick stir.
- Simmer your mixture very gently for 10 - 20 mins, keeping the lid on, and try to keep the mulled wine covered between servings.
- Using a metal strainer, remove and discard everything but the liquid.
- Serve warm topped with your favorite garnishes such as orange peels or cinnamon sticks.
