Cherry Pie
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 9- inch unbaked pie crusts
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
- 2. In a large bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, almond extract, and salt.
- 3. Pour cherry mixture into the unbaked pie crust. Dot with butter.
- 4. Place the second crust over the top. Crimp the edges of the crust together.
- 5. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- 6. In a small bowl, combine cold water and lemon juice. Brush over the top crust.
- 7. Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- 8. Cool before slicing and serving.
