Nachos became popular in the United States by the 1970s. They were introduced at a Texas Rangers game in 1976. In 1978, they were served at the Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium. By 1979, they were the most popular concession-stand item in Texas.
Nachos became more mainstream nationwide after they were served at the Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium in 1978. The Cowboys were known as “America’s Team” and often played host to ABC’s Monday Night Football. Sportscaster Howard Cosell mentioned nachos multiple times during a broadcast. After that, even movie theaters began to serve them.
Nachos were introduced at a Texas Rangers game in 1976 by San Antonio businessman Frank Liberto. They were introduced at a Dallas Cowboys football game in 1977. From there, they appeared at stadiums and movie theaters throughout the United States.
