What is an Almond Buttercrunch?
Almond buttercrunch is a crunchy buttery caramelized candy made with butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, salt, almonds, and chocolate chips. Homemade almond buttercrunch candy is even better than the store-bought version. It’s a rich toffee made with brown sugar and butter studded with toasted almonds. That is then dipped in chocolate and rolled in more nuts for a delicious homemade treat.
What is the difference between toffee and Buttercrunch?
The  primary difference is the difference rests in the ingredients. Toffee in Britain is made with brown sugar, whereas buttercrunch is made with white granulated sugar. The differences do not stop there, however, since the delectable buttercrunch is usually made with a nice variety of nuts and other flavorings.
History
Almond buttercrunch got its start in the early 1800s in the region of the UK and Northern Europe where butter was widely available. They became popular in America in the early 1900s, when confectioners began experimenting with different nut-based toffees. Almond butter crunch quickly became a beloved treat as it offered a unique combination of rich, buttery toffee and the satisfying crunch of almonds.
This treat was particularly popular back around World War II. It was easy to wrap and send by mail in care packages. One of the most recognizable almond buttercrunch commercial versions is produced by ‘Brown & Haley’ out of Seattle, WA. They wrap them in their signature gold wrappers.
