Paczki (Polish Donuts)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • 2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, and warm milk.
  • 3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • 4. Heat a few inches of oil in a large pot or deep fryer over medium heat.
  • 5. Carefully drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning the doughnuts occasionally.
  • 6. Remove the pączki from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • 7. Dust the pączki with confectioners’ sugar. Serve warm
