1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch tube pan.
2. In a medium bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
3. In a large bowl, beat egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add oil, lemon juice, and lemon zest and mix until combined.
5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
6. Gradually add dry ingredients to egg yolk mixture and mix until combined.
7. Fold in beaten egg whites until combined.
8. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
